Carroll County Schools has embarked on a new initiative aimed at teaching our students academics and life skills that will help them become productive citizens and improve the lives of everyone around them.
The Panther Path was created over a three-year period in which educators and administrators reviewed the path we want our students to walk.
Posters reflecting the Panther Path have been hung in all of our school and administrative buildings. Teachers have made inclusion of The Panther Path a regular part of their instructional day. Students are becoming accustomed to the terminology and how to be an Empowered Learner, Productive Collaborator, Critical Thinker and Effective Communicator.
The next important group to be included in the rollout of The Panther Path is our parents/guardians and the entire Carroll County community. Each of us plays a role in teaching our students to become successful, responsible and compassionate human beings.
“The Panther Path is a collaborative work with our Carroll County Schools Mission, Vision and Strategic Plan,” said Carroll County Schools Superintendent Casey Jaynes. “These components will help us to align goals, measurements and allocate resources to ensure students have the opportunity to succeed at the highest level of education.”
The Panther Path incorporates four key components:
Empowered Learner - Someone who works hard to learn and does not let failure stand in the way.
Productive Collaborator - Someone who works with others to achieve a common goal.
Critical Thinker - Someone who uses credible information to make good decisions.
Effective Communicator - Someone who listens, adapts and can clearly convey ideas and thoughts.
The Panther Path is designed to promote skills Carroll County Schools will help our students accomplish by the time they graduate. The implementation of these skillsets begins as early as kindergarten and consistently continues throughout high school.
“These skills are the vehicle students will use for deeper engagement and to reach higher levels of learning,” said Jeannie Rohrer, supervisor of instruction. “The Panther Path will help shift the focus from simply getting good grades to students learning and becoming well-rounded, capable and confident individuals.”
